The 2021 National Road Rally

At the end of the 2020 National Road Rally we all hoped that by 2021 COVID-19 would be a dim and distant memory and the 2021 National Road Rally would go back to being the way it had been. Unfortunately COVID-19 is still with us and once again, the National Road Rally Committee are having to think differently as to how to run the event. The 2020 National Road Rally was a huge success and probably had more entrants than any other sporting event that has been held since the first lockdown in March 2020. For 2021 the committee are keen to build on that success and make this year's event even bigger and better

What is new for 2021?

As with 2020, all of the controls in the 2021 matrix will be unmanned and entrants will be required to collect unique codes which they will log on the National Road Rally website after the event. Because all of the controls will be unmanned, the organisers are able to expand the Matrix to include 100 controls stretching from the west country to the Scottish borders. The 2021 National Road Rally will also run over two days and riders will have the option of riding either of the days or both days.

Because there will be no manned controls the organisers are hoping to put as many of the controls as possible at locations such as biker cafes and motorcycle shops to try and improve the rider experience. Unfortunately the lack of manned controls also mean that there will be no rest points so even though the organisers are planning on running the event over two days, the event will stop over night so that riders can return home to rest.

Like the 2020 National Road Rally, all correspondents and documents will be supplied electronically either via email or to download via the website and once again the Matrix, Control Booklet and Control Card will be made available electronically via the website prior to the event. Entries will also be on-line only and will open on the 1st May.
